(Long Island, NY) Everyone Deserves a Decent Life, a 21 minute short documentary about caring for people with developmental disabilities will be shown during the 2:30pm block of films at the Long Island International Film Expo.
The film’s Executive Producer is Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg, D., Long Beach, who is a lifelong advocate for people with developmental disabilities; he has been the voice for those who have no voice for more than 50 years.
Produced and Directed by David E. Feldman of Vessel Films, who is also a partner at LongIslandNY.tv, a web-based TV station based in Long Beach, now in its 3rd year.
Everyone Deserves a Decent Life is about the struggles of people with developmental disabilities, people whose lives depend entirely on us and on caregivers. We meet Ricky, who is in his 50s and cannot walk or speak … or cry. We meet Nancy, who has been unable to find proper care for her grown, often violent son, Nick, and, as a result, has not been able to hold a job. We meet Margaret, who speaks both from the perspective of professional caregivers and that of a mom of Riko, a grown man with autism, who needs constant supervision and care.
Everyone Deserves a Decent Life is also about the work of NY State Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg who, along with his wife, Ellen, has dedicated his life and much of his career to the care of people like his grown, developmentally disabled son, Ricky.
Everyone Deserves a Decent Life can also be seen in its entirety on YouTube.
