Fathers Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in June. This special occasion was created for children to honor their Fathers and began in Spokane, Washington. While listening to a Mother’s Day sermon in 1909, a woman by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd invented the idea for having a special day to honor all Fathers.

After Sonora’s mother died, she was raised by her devoted father Henry Jackson Smart. Sonora’s doting dad made all the parental decisions and sacrifices for his loving daughter. In Sonora’s eyes he was more than just a good father he was her hero, a selfless and courageous man that put his daughter’s needs first. Sonora’s father was born in June so she invented the first Father’s Day celebration in Spokane Washington on June 19, 1910.

President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the third Sunday to be Fathers day in 1924.

Celebrity devoted fathers are all too happy to be seen pushing a pram and doing the school run, Johnny Vaughan cites the three-wheel buggy as the hottest male accessory, Madonna’s husband, Guy Ritchie thinks nothing of cuddling his little baby Rocco in public and crazy over the top Ozzy Osbourne gives fatherhood a ringing endorsement and whole new meaning for fatherhood, albeit littered with expletives.

The Donald is celebrating his birthday on the golf course. Apprentice Star Donald Trump just celebrated his birthday on June 14th Happy Birthday Donald! “I don’t want a gift, I just want everyone to be healthy and happy for Fathers Day” said The Donald –Happy Fathers Day to the Donald. The Donald will be on the golf course celebrating his Fathers Day with Melania and new baby.

Famous Fashion Designer Calvin Klein still receives a bottle of his favorite cologne from his daughter, would you believe Old Spice.

Hamptons Princess Paris Hilton does what she does every year; she makes her father Rick Hilton his favorite breakfast, chocolate chip pancakes. I want to know darlings, does she clean up the kitchen too after cooking the pancakes? Rick Hilton will also be playing golf.

Puff Daddy prefers to spend time with his kids and the family on Fathers Day. He has such a busy schedule that solid family time is precious to him.

Long Island TV Star and writer Victoria Gotti remembers fondly what her infamous dad always told her, “When you get knocked down kid, pick yourself up, brush yourself off and instead of walking, run!”

The week of June 12th has been exceptionally busy for me attending The FICA Show Fall/Winter 2006 in New York City. When most people are getting ready for hot summer beach days in the Long Island sunshine, the fur industry is getting ready for next season’s fabulous furs.

Each year in the spring FICA holds their shows for one entire week in the fur district. For those who do not know exactly what FICA is let me enlighten you FICA, the Fur Information Council of America, was established in 1987 as the Fur Trade Association of the United States. FICA serves its members in multifaceted ways. Like other non-profit trade associations, FICA provides background information and guidance on industry developments, researches markets trends, consumer habits, tracks and reports sales and price points, identifies issues of common concern, represents the fur industry in dealings with the press, the public sector and other industries, as well as state and federal governments. FICA monitors legislative initiatives and judicial actions that have direct impact on the fur industry.

The International Fur Trade Federation (IFTF) is also affiliated with FICA. London is their headquarters and throughout the years their membership has grown and flourished. Among its most prestigious members are fashion designers, wholesalers, fur retailers editors and business analysts throughout the world. FICA also saves its members money and time by providing exclusive programs such as an in store customer credit program and merchant card program. FICA also keeps its members informed of the latest trends in Fashion. FICA is the only fur trade association that supports and employs a fashion promotion team full time. It also protects its members from personal threats that are made by extremist animal rights groups. 85% of U.S. fur retailers are small individually family owned businesses that are being targeted by such groups. FICA is there to ensure their livelihood and to help their businesses endure and prosper.

Each year I am proud to be invited to the FICA Show. As usual this year was no exception. Fur is more spectacular then ever for Fall 2006. Wonderful designs and marvelous silhouettes are new for Fall 2006. Designer Athanasios (Tommy) Demetriades brings a whole new concept in contemporary aesthetic to fur in his ESKO collection. The look is sleek, sophisticated and elegant with double-breasted peplum jackets, lovely broadtail combined with Loro Piana cashmere. The look this season is vintage inspired short coats and jackets with a fantastic fresh appeal.

Cheklang lamb, a flat plush textured supple fur is featured in the hip young Xander Collection but the highlight of the show was the Divas Collection designed by my darling friend Celebrity Television Journalist Leon Hall. Most will recognize Leon from the E Network! and Fashion Emergency. He is known worldwide for his Emmy and Oscar red carpet fashion coverage with Joan Rivers. He is one of the highest rated fashion entertainment journalists today. “With Fur gracing the runways of virtually every designer’s collection for Fall/Winter 2006. I wanted my divas to know that they too can enjoy the incredible feeling you get when wearing fur, even if they aren’t a size 2! Fur is the fabric of choice and I’m giving them that choice”, said Mr. Hall. Leon recognizes that most women in the United States are size 14 and over and want to be glamorous and fashionable in fur. His collection is all about furs that flatter and fit larger size women. “Fit is essential…fit makes it yours. All women have hourglass shapes. My divas are just a bit larger. I want them to enjoy the magnificent feeling of wearing fur and looking divine!”

Another spectacular show was Carmen Marc Valvo. Much of his inspiration comes from his spring and fall collections with the Old Hollywood Glamour days gone by. Beads, sequins, sensual embellishment all play a significant meaning in his design of glamorous gowns that need the appropriate glamorous fur. Carmen’s extensive fur collection includes shrugs, boleros, cropped jackets, strollers and fabulous accessories. His unique designs are manufactured by using a special technique of combining silky karakui and sheared mink, knit cashmere with mink, and beaded lace embellishments. Although his sumptuous designer creations have made him a favorite among celebrities such as Mary J. Blige and Beyonce Knowles it his devotion to his non- celebrity clients that have made him into an international star.

I truly enjoyed the Helen Yarmak Show darlings drinking expensive champagne and eating the best Russian Caviar in Ms. Yarmack’s showroom penthouse suite overlooking panoramic views of Central Park and 5th Avenue. Helen’s furs are luxurious, glamorous, very expensive, over the top and exhilarating to touch and feel. Movie star Goldie Hawn is a well know client of Helen Yarmak Furs. The most expensive fur in her collection is a $270,000 Russian Sable coat.

Fur designer Orlando Lopez launched his brand new collection on June 13, 2006. His hands-on approach to detail, furs and trimmings as well as managing all his garments production will make fur wearers feel unforgettable.

On Wednesday June 14th darlings, I was invited to the Jerry Sorbara Fur show. In my interview with this masterful genius, Sorbara revealed to me why he was inspired to design furs after working as a tailor, “Designing fur is like falling in love with a beautiful woman”. Magnifique!!!

Jerry Sorbara’s collection is sold exclusively for Neiman Marcus. The collection offers bright colors in mink jackets, short swing coats, lippy cat trimmed in Russian sable and Tanuki. I especially adored the lippy cat trimmed in black fox it had such a real art deco retro feel. I felt as if I walked on the set of a 1930’s movie, very Old Hollywood. Speaking of Old Hollywood, Mr. Sorbara has sold his exquisite furs to many movie stars including Dame Elizabeth Taylor. Jerry also features golden sable and young shapes in chinchilla. Another great show was Sherry Cassin. Ms. Cassin’s furs are fun and light as a feather. Sherry confessed to me that women want to run from place to place and don’t want the bulk and the weight of a big fur. Today’s modern woman is all about wearing a beautiful fur with jeans and wearing the same fabulous fur with an elegant evening gown. Most of her furs are without lining to create a feather light feel.

My favorite show on Wednesday was the Global Fur Group with Fur Designer Zuki. His furs are the most outrageous; over the top avant-garde and artistic designs of everything I have seen the whole entire week. The work and craftsmanship is incredible. Zuki fur is recognized worldwide as one of a few truly innovative fur designers. To him fur is a medium of artistic expression, breaking all the rules and over extending the boundaries of design. His collection is double-face. On the fur side, elegance, then suddenly a fabulous surprise inside out. Appliqués of mink and beaver encrusted with Swarovski crystals throughout the entire coat or fur garment. Amazing to look at, amazing to wear and amazing to feel!!!!

With all this wonderful knowledge that I have attained from being invited to the FICA Shows is simply what should the Long Island Woman look for when buying a fur and if she doesn’t want to go into Manhattan to purchase a fur where is the next best place on Long Island?

(Long Island, NY)  This past Wednesday June 7, 2006 I celebrated my glamorous birthday soirée at the colorful Blue Parrott Restaurant in East Hampton.

Food is of maximum significance at the Blue Parrot – Authentic Mexican food that demands vigilant prepping and the lightest of touches. Modern assets of the restaurant impresario such as the Mexican cuisine, personality of showmanship and a way with celebrities are not lost on the complex owners- Actor Lee Bieler and Surfer dude enthusiast Roland Eisenberg. The restaurant boasts celebrity customers include Renée Zellweger, Ron Perelman and Donna Karan. Owner/Actor Lee Bieler is now pursuing a full-time acting career, has just signed with Wilhelmina Creative Management and appears in the new Tom Arnold flick “The Skeptic.”. His character is the owner of the pub (how surreal) and Mr. Rosenberg has had a fascinating life traveling and jet setting all around the world working with people in the entertainment industry such as Robert Downey Jr. These two magnificent gentlemen have enormous regard for the palates of patrons that walk into their charming Mexican restaurant.

Flamboyant accenting colors, retro posters of surfers, upbeat works of art and sculptures adorn the nooks and crannies of the Blue Parrott Restaurant. Everything in other words to take ones mind off of the daily stresses of life. The kitchen is nestled in the back of the restaurant and the lively bar with it usual patrons create a fun atmosphere. The waiters and waitresses are attentive and watchful but never hovering, in fact everything moves and meshes with smooth efficiency.

The restaurant is proud of its tasty Tex/Mex emphasis as well as the best Tuna Sushi. The hamburgers are good and meaty and the chicken is honest and straightforward. The cocktails are fabulous and the pretty pink margaritas complement and add color to the intensely flavored Tex-Mex food. For my birthday dish I enjoyed their signature dish of Shell steak which comes with jalapeño mashed potatoes – Delicious Darlings- I recommend it highly! Best steak I ever tasted!!

The Blue Parrott is the best kept secret in East Hampton. This treasure of a restaurant is located across from the movie house, in a side passage behind The Ralph Lauren shop and 50 paces from the Hampton’s blue ribbon bastion of the arts, Vered Gallery. It is also a wonderful hangout for the local celebrities that want to enjoy excellent authentic Mexican food. The restaurant is child friendly. You can also enjoy their lovely outdoor dining which is perfect for moms and tots with strollers.

(Long Island, NY) Super star, Recording Artist Mariah Carey was born in Long Island on March 27, 1970. Carey and her siblings grew up living on Long Island in 13 successive houses. Thirteen must be a lucky number because Carey rose to super-stardom as the best selling female performer of the 1990’s. Ms. Carey has been compared to her rivals Recording Artist Celine Dion and Whitney Houston. Her stunning five-Octave voice ranges from hip-hop dance-pop to glossy ballad melodies.

Her family kept moving from house to house on Long Island after her parents divorced when she was three years old. Unfortunately this left Carey feeling insecure. Mariah was able to overcome this obstacle by believing and visualizing everyday of her life that some thing better would be on the way.

At the age of 17 luscious Carey moved to New York City, one day after graduating from High School. She decided to pursue a career in show business. Her big break came as a backup singer for Vocalist Brenda K. Starr. Dance Pop Star Brenda was at a party when she handed Carey’s demo tape to Tommy Mottola , Columbia Record Executive. According to gossip Mottola was driving home in his limo and decided to listen to the tape that same evening. After listening to Mariah Carey’s stunning voice he decided to return to the party and hunt her down.

Columbia signed Carey and a romance blossomed with Carey and Mottola. The couple married in June of 1993 and bought a majestic 50- acre estate outside of New York City. During the 90’s Mariah became an overnight success with one hit after another. After signing with Columbia Ms. Carey began work on her 1990 self-titled debut LP; the heavily promoted album which became a chart-topping smash, launch four number one singles: “Someday”, “Love Takes Time”, I’Don’t Wanna Cry”, and “Vision”. Gorgeous Mariah earned her Grammy Awards as Best Female Vocalist and Best New Artist. More hits followed along the way. In 1994 she resurfaced with a holiday release titled Merry Christmas, scoring a seasonal smash with “All I want for Christmas is You.” 1995’s Daydream reflected a new artistic maturity. The first single, “Fantasy”, debuted at number one, making Carey the first female artist and just the second performer ever to accomplish the feat.

The 2000’s were not especially kind to Ms. Carey. Carey signed an 80 million dollar deal with Virgin records – the biggest contract ever which caused a great deal of stress on the young recording artist causing her a psychological meltdown. She also received terrible reviews on her much publicized film “Glitter”. The film did not do well at the box office. Frankly I did not think it was nearly as bad as the critics made it out to be and the lovely Carey never looked more beautiful in the film. Unfortunately the film and the album did so poorly making just under 4 million dollars in its total U.S. gross. The soundtrack also struggled to make gold sales.

Finally the surviving diva made a hit with “The Emancipation of Mimi” her most successful selling CD in years which won her three Grammy’s.

Super Star Pop Diva Mariah now lives in a spectacular 12,000 square foot penthouse pad in Manhattan. She loves listening to music in her recently completed Moroccan-style lounge on the third floor. After divorcing Mottola, the glamorous penthouse is the first place she ever owned by herself so it is all her total glam all the way. Taffeta curtains, plush sofas, glittering light fixtures and chandeliers making the triplex Old Hollywood and art deco-y” the kind of place every little girls dreams about when they want to become a movie star!!!! Carey was inspired by old movie stars especially Joan Crawford when she had her extravagant walk in closest designed. Marble floors, climate controlled, crystal chandelier, mirrors everywhere, a pink fainting couch, Carey’s glamorous closet is bigger than most peoples apartments in Manhattan. Mariah also collects Marilyn Monroe memorabilia and even accessorized one of her bathrooms with photographs of the star. What’s next for the Glamorous Carey?

(Long Island, NY) Everyone is talking about the new Gibraltar indie flick being filmed in Los Angeles, California directed by Erik MacArthur.

The gossip in the Hamptons is that none other than scene queen, glamorous movie star Paris Hilton is starring in “Bottoms Up”. The Hamptons Princess plays an IAP, Italian American Princess. Provocative Paris wears a sexy brunette wig to be more in character.

The film right now is in post-production and will be released in the Fall. The news is so hot and fresh that they don’t even have a release date!

The synopsis of the film starring Paris Hilton and Jason Mewes who are top lining the indie comedy tells the story of a bartender from the Midwest (Mewes) who finds love, money and success in Hollywood with Hilton’s character, Lisa Mancini who plays an Italian American Princess. Paul Walker from Blue Collar Films and Gibraltar is expected to take a cameo role in this indie project. Not only is MacArthur directing but also he wrote the script along with Nick Ballo.

My sources tell me that Sexy Socialite turned Hollywood Movie star Paris is traveling to the Cannes Film Festival and bicoastal back and forth to LA and the Hamptons working on the film and promoting it.

Hamptons Hilton recently turned Hollywood Hilton was born February 17, 1981 and spent most of her childhood growing up the world renowned Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in Manhattan which her great grandfather Conrad Hilton bought during the 1930’s Depression. Paris grew up in other homes, most notably Beverly Hills and the Hamptons with her famous sister Nicky. In my opinion they are the 21st century version of the Gabor sisters, Zsa Zsa and Eva, Paris being Zsa Zsa and Nicky being Eva. Ironically Zsa Zsa Gabor is Paris’s step great grandmother. Conrad had married the young Gabor when she was only in her early twenties. Paris entered into the world of show business and embarked immediately for her quest for stardom after graduating from High School in 2000. Fashionista Hilton also known for her nearly there fashions started modeling for fashion designers Marc Bouwer, Tommy Hilfiger, Catherine Malandrino and the Heatherettes.

The Hilton Heiress is known for her crazed media attention constantly being photographed by paparazzi for her outrageous behavior. Although she denies it she was reported to have went topless in a Manhattan nightclub, locked lips with Ingrid Casares but her biggest headline ever was when rumor surfaced about a sex videotape with ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon, Shannen Doherty’s ex-husband

Paris survived all this bad press to endeavor on a Realty TV Show with her best friend Nicole Richie in “The Simple Life” (Fox, 2003)

Paris and Nicole ditched their glamorous lifestyle to live on a farm, wear overalls, milk cows and bail hay.

Although the premise of the show seemed silly, it pulled in huge ratings which helped Paris in getting better acting roles.

She was later cast in the remake of the House of Wax and now is currently working on the new indie film “Bottoms Up”. More gossip about this exciting new flick later.

(Long Island, NY) This Memorial weekend celebrities attended Jason Binn’s Hamptons Magazine launch part BBQ to kickoff the summer. Wannabes tried to weasel their way into Boutique; Jason Binn’s palatial summer estate in the Hamptons. The Magazine is celebrating its sixth anniversary.

Special guests for the evening were new Hamptonites Kelsey and wife Camile Grammer. The Grammers are on the cover of this months Hamptons Magazine. The star couple just purchased an 8,000 square foot rambling home in the Hamptons. You might spot the celebrity couple biking in the morning to the beach with their two children Olivia and Gordon Grammer.

But the real gossip for the evening was when Ultimate Glamour Queen and Sexy Socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein made a grand entrance by being a show stopper to all onlookers who turned their curious heads from Kelsey Grammer on to her causing a lightning bolt of flash bulbs from the photographers photographing Jocelyn’s amazing cat image! Wild Wilderstein made her spectacular entrance wearing a provocative silvery gray evening pantsuit that enhanced her newly sunburned voluptuous bosoms designed by her boy toy Designer Lloyd Klein. I had the pleasure of meeting Jocelyn at The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation when she bedazzled everyone on the red carpet. Jocelyn spoke to me in a candid interview about what a truly marvelous man Christopher really was, “He truly was Superman”.

Looking as if they just stepped off the plane from the Cannes Film Fesitval, Juicy Jocelyn and Lloyd were seen cuddling and canoodling together while they whispered sweet nothings into each other’s ear after drinking champagne and laughing with the other guests all night.

Other celebrities attending the magazine launch were Russell Simmons, James Lipton, Gina Glickman and socialite Michelle Herbert. Even Media icon Radio Man made it after riding his bike from Manhattan. The bike that Whoopie Goldberg bought it him no doubt after his original one was stolen.

Binn’s magazines in the grand tradition are filled with reviews of the sexiest hottest nightclubs, profiles of the locals and intellects of the Hamptons, interviews with the stars and pictures of red carpet events. The Society Magazine darling is back. His Niche Media publishes Los Angeles Confidential, Gotham, Aspen Peach and of course Hamptons Magazine the idle beach chatter for sure.

Thirty seven year old Binn follows a strategic simple formula in each and every market he enters. The magazine he creates interest millionaires, the local moneyed set where they are distributed free to houses that are worth well over a million dollars. The households that he targets have an annual income of over 250,000 a year. His demographics are people who rent private cars, fly on private jets and own their own private yachts. Mr. Binn seeks out only the very best in advertisers, Harry Winston, Net Jets, Christies all have glossy glamorous advertisements.

(Long Island, NY) Well darlings Memorial Day Weekend is finally here, the kickoff to the Hampton Scene. I do my usual, sunbathing at the beach, shopping at the hottest boutique and going to all the fabulous parties that the Hampton Scene has to offer.

This year was no different. I started my Memorial Day Weekend off by attending an intimate soirée hosted by my press photographer Shane Gritzinger at his palatial Hampton Bays estate.

He served me this intoxicating liqueur that simply captivated my inner soul! It honestly cast a delicious potent spell over me. “Darling, what is this fabulous cocktail you are serving me?” I said. “Intrigue, It was a gift from my friend Kristen the publicist, Isn’t it sexy? I love the bottle” he grinned. We started making shots in the beginning and then later started trying to find new and exciting cocktails we could create and invent. We were both so infatuated with the insatiable taste of Intrigue that we decided to leave the party downstairs and do a whole photo shoot upstairs with me embracing the sensuous bottle of Intrigue.

(Long Island, NY) I had the pleasure of meeting The Tenacious Tony while I was doing a TV interview for my TV show Cognac’s Corner at the Glamorous Cabaret, Feinstein’s At The Regency. I had just interviewed Chef Michael at Feinstein’s and Tony Danza was doing his cabaret act when he decided to take a break and sit at my table. We chatted a while and he talked about himself. He got a kick out of my name, “Cognac Wellerlane, Cognac Wellerlane, Wellerlane, Wellerlane that ‘s your name? Are you sure that’s not your address?, the Dashing Danza expressed in that charming grin that can charm any girl.

Tony Danza was born Antonio Salvatore Iadanza in Brooklyn, New York . His family later moved to Malverne, New York . He graduated from the the University of Dubuque and decided to become a boxer which led him into a illlustrious career in show business. His very first important role in acting was when he was cast as the erstwhile boxer Tony Banda on TV sitcom Taxi but he is better known as the widowed housekeeper of an attractive blond divorced woman Angela Bower (Judith Light) on the weekly domestic comedy “who’s the Boss?” Tony enjoyed 8 wonderful seasons playing the loveable character, Tony Micelli.

His first starring film role after “Who the Boss?” was the 1988 “She’s Out of Control”. Tony was cast as an overprotective dad of a teenage daughter played by Ami Dolenz. The role was more or less an extension of his TV work in Who’s The Boss but his real acting ability came when he was cast as a dying baseball player in the 1994 remake of Angels In the Outfield – Hal Erickson.

Tony is also a survivor in more ways then one. He has survived a show business career, a bad accident, an earthquake and his mother’s death of brain cancer. After finding out about his mother’s illness he went back to his home in Malverne, New York . He cared for her for six months each night retiring to his childhood bedroom.

In 1995 after his mother’s death he dealt with his emotions by writing and producing and acting in a 28-minute film about a son looking after his dying mother. He shot it at his mom’s house in Malverne.

(Long Island, NY) Well darlings it is that time of year when all New Yorkers do their exodus to the fabled Hamptons. You know darlings, the place where Lizzie Grubman backed over 16 people, and the place where celebrities flock to be photographed or not to in the case of Lindsey Lohan running through a celebrity event with her face covered. Fireworks were blasting at this high profile event to benefit and kick off “Fight For Children”.

Celebrity photographers including Shane Gritzinger and John Roca were chasing queen teen actress and recording artist Lindsay Lohan around The San Tropez Soirée, benefiting “Fight for Children,” at the private home of Sony/BMG’s Charlie Walk in Water Mill. The Luscious Lindsay Lohan darted unexpectedly across the white carpet over tables and backdrops so that her famous image would not be photographed. Lovely Lindsay caused an enormous commotion as photographers scrambled around obstacle courses, jumping over bushes trying to steal a shot of her fabulous face.

The same Hamptons where millionaires are found mysteriously murdered and their bodies are floating in their luxurious pools, where the hedges are 20 feet high to keep the riff raff out and unwanted curious stares from tourist. Oh yes darlings, this is the time of year when every celebrity or wannabe marks their calendar so they can be put on the list for every summer Hampton social event.

This is the time of year when I make a list of all my favorite places that I visit, shop and dine at.

One of my favorite restaurants to dine is the charming and cozy Pierre’s in Bridge Hampton. I had the pleasure of being introduced to this fabulous restaurant by my press photographer Shane Gritzinger. He mentioned that he adores the restaurant and that is where we dined for our special celebrity event.

Pierre’s cuisine is known for their ferociously fresh seafood and lightly seasoned French cuisine in a classically cozy ambiance. My favorite choice is the delicious Seafood especially the oven-roasted cod in a lemon-white wine sauce. The pan-roasted sea scallops and the delectable Salmon Tartar are also winners. My favorite and best dessert was the Pavlova.

Dinners are served until 10pm from Thursday to Monday, and midnight on weekends.
Brunch is served Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 4pm Happy hour 4 to 8 pm every night. Our celebrity event was on Sunday night when they have live jazz from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Pierre’s is the perfect little French bistro that summer vacationers on the East End and celebrities are looking for.

Recording Artist Jody Carlson will be celebrating her first anniversary singing at Pierre’s. Her fans fill up the crowded dance floor while she serenades them with her wonderful melodies.

(Long Island, NY) On Tuesday, April 25, 2006 I was thrilled to be invited to We Are Family Foundation to Honor Sir Elton John, Quincy Jones. Tommy Hilfiger, The Comcast Family of Companies and Creation Band at the Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom. We Are Family Foundation better known as (WAFF) hosted this star studded red carpet event to pay tribute to the highly respected, esteemed musician and icon Sir Elton John with the Humanitarian Award in recognition of his extraordinary accomplishments through his Elton John AIDS Foundation.

The Mattie J. T. Stepanek Peacemaker Award was also presented to music impresario Quincy Jones in honor of his lifetime of philanthropic achievements. The Visionary Award was presented to famous fashion designer and innovator Tommy Hilfiger in recognition of his work to promote educational opportunities for diverse populations in the U.S.A. through the Tommy Hilfger Corporate Foundation. And last but not least the Corporate Visionary Award was presented to The Comcast Family of Companies in recognition of their strong commitment to diversity. The band Creation made up of six 12 and 13 year-old students for their extraordinary effort on behalf of WAFF by donating all proceeds from the debut album, World Without Windows to WAFF was presented with a special recognition award.

I was thrilled of course to speak to many celebrities that attended this star-studded event but was especially proud to speak to Long Island Celebrity, The lovely and talented Recording Artist, Taylor Dayne. The tantalizing Taylor wearing a sexy plunging neckline black dress revealed how honored she was to receive a call from Nile Rodgers himself inviting her to perform at the event. Lovely Taylor had told me that Nile had asked her to participle in developing the album and the song “We are Family”. We both agreed that Mr. Nile Rodgers is truly a magnificent humanitarian as well as a gifted songwriter and recording artist.

The Platinum recording artist was born Leslie Wunderman on March 7, 1962, in Long Island, New York. Taylor began singing at an early age and joined her first band, the new wave group Felony after graduating high school. In the early part of her young career, Taylor spent her nights appearing at New York City Nightclubs like CBGB’s and the Bottom Line. During the Day the Divine Dayne received her classical training from Maestro Carelli at the Manhattan School of Music. Taylor met Rick Wake in 1985 after releasing some 12-inch records under the titled stage name “Leslee”. Ric renamed her “Taylor Dayne. He became her producer and released the hit song “Tell It to My Heart” which made her a household name. Some of her other hits are “I’ll Always Love You”, “With Every Beat of My Heart”, “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love”, and “Naked Without You”.

Lovely Taylor has continued to expand her acting resume with guest appearances on such shows as Martial Law, and Rude Awakening. She also played the character Amneris, in the Broadway Disney musical, Aida. After being hired for the Roseanne Show, Taylor moved to Los Angeles. Unfortunately the show got cancelled but Taylor decided to stay. She had grown accustomed to this famous show business town and desired the Los Angeles Lifestyle. She now lives in a rambling 2,100 square foot, three-bedroom house in the L.A. suburb Sherman Oaks, California with her three year old twins Levi and Astaria.

Other celebrities that attended this star studded event besides Recording Artist Taylor Dayne were 70’s super group Chic, Steven Van Zandt, Actor Robert Funaro, Debra DiMagio, Kate Pierson of the B-52’s, Khalia Ali and Nancy Hunt, President of the We Are Family Foundation.

I was privileged to interview the host of the Evening Television Personality and member of the WAFF Board of Directors Mr. Montel Williams. Mr. Williams revealed to me how his dear friend songwriter Nile Rodgers approached him on becoming a member of WAFF. In my interview with Mr. Nile Rodgers he explained to me what this extraordinary organization is really all about.

We Are Family Foundation (WAFF), a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization was founded by legendary producer/songwriter Nile Rodgers in 2002 in response to the tragic event of September 11 2001. Mr. Rodgers gathered over 200 celebrities together to re-record his world-renowned hit song “We Are Family”, in order to commence the healing process of this very tragic unprecedented event. The re-recording of this famous song proved the song’s power to give hope through an uplifting beat and a strong message of global unity. Both Mr. Quincy Jones and Fashion Designer Tommy Hilfiger expressed to me how excited they were to receive such honorary awards.

In my interview with Mr. Rodgers he expressed “I’m thrilled to announce We Are Family Foundations’s 4th Annual Gala Celebration! This year we are proud to pay tribute to Sir Elton John, Quincy Jones, Tommy Hilfiger, Creation and the Comcast Family of Companies. These Inspirational honorees have all been chosen for their commitment to promoting education and awareness of global issues and the unprecedented dedication to making the world a better place.
