Hampton Jitney, Inc. is a privately owned bus company founded in 1974 and based in Southampton, NY. The company operates five separate bus lines throughout the Long Island and New York City area such as the South Fork to Montauk Line, South Fork to Westhampton Line, North Fork, Brooklyn and the Lower Manhattan line. Riders should expect limited cell phone use and refreshments on all buses.
Hampton Jitney requires travelers to have reservations which can be booked online. Jitney has two classes of service, the regular Jitney and the more expensive Ambassador, which provides extra-wide plush seats, extended legroom, wine with snacks and individual electric power outlets. The line of buses is popular with New York City residents who travel to the Hampton’s from Manhattan; a ride which takes roughly 3 hours depending on traffic.
Long Island Routes:
- The Montauk Line serves Manorville, and then the South Fork villages from Southampton to Montauk. A branch of this route serves the village of Sag Harbor either by direct bus service, or via a shuttle from its Southampton base.
- The Westhampton Line serves Manorville, the villages of Westhampton, Quogue, and Hampton Bays.
- The North Fork Line serves the towns and villages from Riverhead to Greenport with some buses continuing onto East Marion, Orient, and Orient Point.
