LINCT Coalition: Helping Individuals Acquire Technological Skills
Technology is everywhere these days. Don’t plan on watching the television or opening the newspaper without coming face to face with various technological concepts. One piece of technology in particular that is extremely important to the community is computers. The Learning and Information Networking for Community via Technology (LINCT) based in Long Island realizes this fact and makes various programs and training sessions available to those individuals who desire the technology training they may not be able to get elsewhere. The LINCT organization provides a number of programs for individuals in the Long Island area to take advantage of with regard to technology.
LINCT Learn and Earn Program
One program in particular which LINCT provides in the Long Island area is the Learn and Earn program. This program provides a number of different services to the Long Island community that wishes to learn more about computer use. This program holds classes for both adults and children to learn basic computer skills, provide ownership of Learn and Earn computers, recycle computers to prevent them from going to local landfills and provide access to online resources. In addition, the LINCT organization in Long Island makes certain opportunities available to individuals to volunteer for teaching one of their many computer classes. The reason for the existence of this organization is to provide access for individuals to learn more about computers, especially for those who have not had the chance to do so in the past.
LINCT/Time Dollars Program
LINCT provides an opportunity for individuals to volunteer with their organization by teaching one of their computer classes. In return for volunteering, instructors will receive Time Dollars incentives which equate with computer upgrades, free accessories and more based upon how many hours they donate their time towards teaching a course. This is beneficial for all parties involved as the LINCT organization acquires instructors for their courses and the instructors get “paid” by obtaining computer upgrades and accessories. It is a great way to reward all individuals involved in the process.
For those who are interested to either learn more about computers or teach computer classes in the Long Island area, contacting the LINCT organization might just be an extremely wise decision to make. For more information visit: www.linct.org
