What’s It All Mean Anyway?
What is the meaning of life? Why are we here? After all, there must be a grand scheme to things… or is there? I have come to ponder on these rhetorical questions as the birth of my son draws near and I wanted to share with all of you my insight to one of life’s most prominent questions. Some will argue using a religious point of view; God has a plan for all of us. Some would use a rather scientific point of view; The “Big Bang” theory is what initiated the creation of life. Someone with a philosophical point of view might say that it doesn’t matter why we are here, but how we choose to live our lives that’s important. All of these explanations are worth mentioning, and hold a sort of truth for lots of us.
But I can comment on all of these theories in a way that suits me, and maybe some of you reading this. Looking at our question through a religious point of view, I think that Gods plan for us is for us to live at our greatest potential and goodness as human beings. Scientifically speaking, evolution is the process in which we grow, expand, and constantly improve upon ourselves, as life finds a way to scientifically advance itself. And it also falls in line with the philosophical take. We are here to experience the world, learn from it, and grow with it.
In conclusion however, I would like to add one more thing. I also think that the meaning of life is to simply live according to what’s most meaningful to you. Whatever is most meaningful to you, being the greatest parent, teacher, nurse, volunteer, employee or employer, wife, husband, brother, sister, friend, or human being, do it. I believe if we live according to what’s most meaningful to us, then God will let us into his kingdom of heaven, or the creation of life will appreciate our ability to grow, evolve, and adapt, and philosophically speaking, we will positively contribute to the balance of the universe.
