News: Man Indicted For Stealing $1M
(Long Island, N.Y.) A thirty-three-year-old man has been indicted for taking one million dollars from JP Morgan Chase. Reports stated that the man accomplished the crime by seducing some of the bank’s tellers. The suspect, who refers to himself as ‘Kasanova,’ had a prior conviction in 2004 for grand larceny.
The man was part of a crime ring, and according to reports, led five others to commit the offense. The parties involved are being presented with a 148-count indictment for stealing the identities of at least eighty people with separate bank accounts. The plot to steal had lasted over a two-year time span.
The leader of the group was given a bail of five-hundred-thousand dollars by a Manhattan judge, and reports claimed that the scheming ladies man was born on Valentine’s Day. Sources stated that at least two of the bank’s tellers claimed to be in love with him. One is a thirty-year-old woman who pleaded not guilty to stealing identities from nine accounts.
The woman allegedly had possession of a love letter written to her Kasanova, which was found in her desk drawer. The other teller involved a twenty-five-year-old who attended college in New Rochelle, also pleaded not guilty to the charges and claimed she was the suspect’s victim. Her lawyer claimed that she had always been a quiet girl who didn’t date a lot, and was easily manipulated by the suspect’s charms after they met at a bar called Taboo.
The young woman began working at TD Bank after being previously employed at Chase. The suspect allegedly bought her a drink on the night they met and requested that she’d join him for breakfast. He told her his assistant would give her the number and the two soon began a relationship.
The woman’s mother was a transit worker and her father was employed as a corrections officer. Her lawyer claimed that the last offense his client committed was being tardy in homeroom. The woman’s father suspected the thirty-three-year-old alleged conspirator after searching his records.
Despite her father’s efforts to keep the two apart, the woman continued to see the suspect. The relationship continued even after she questioned him about why he always seemed to be interested in her job. When asked about his ties to the woman in question, the suspect insisted that he knew many women with her name.
He allegedly appeared in court with his underwear sticking out from his jeans. The woman faces charges of stealing the identities of sixteen victims. Each of the parties involved face up to twenty-five years in prison.
The crime ring also resorted to pick-pocketing to carry out their elaborate scheme. They stole from bank branches across New York, Texas, and Michigan. They face multiple felony charges of conspiracy, grand larceny, identity theft, and computer trespass.
