(Long Island, NY) This past week I was delighted to be invited to a special showing of the Max Nugus Couture Collection at his Madison Avenue atelier. I met with his charming GM and fashionista showroom extraordinaire Mr. Arnold Goodman to do a sit down interview for my show Cognac’s Corner.
Max Nugus designs are glamorous, over the top and elegant for that special sophisticated fearless woman who knows what she wants. His line is exquisite evening-wear though many women wear his elegant dinner suits to an elaborate luncheon. A Max Nugus original can often convey a sophisticated day vibe.
The collection is mostly shimmery beaded cocktail dresses, Dinner suits that are trimmed with embellishments and fur that are exquisitely hand beaded like the proud peacock that adorns the back of silk turquoise blazer and magnificent elaborately colored evening gowns made to order, uniquely beaded in detail to the client’s specifications and desires.
Two designs that were amazingly artistic included a landscape scene by Monet and an art inspired gown of Botticelli’s Venus. Max also caters to the blushing bride. His multi-tier feminine white gown is hard to resist. This gown is a showstopper. I guarantee you darlings you will feel like a star on the red carpet wearing it.
Paying attention to brides and mothers is very important to Max. The bride and her mother will need three ensembles in preparation for that special day, the cocktail dress for the engagement party, the dinner suit for the Rehearsal Dinner and the special gown for the reception. Max is there to create your perfect look.
Max was born in Bangkok. His father was a diplomat traveling throughout Asia and Europe. Max grew up in many famous cities exposing him to many cultures such as Vienna, London, Hong Kong. A resident of San Francisco, Max decided to open his first boutique in 1991. Because of his growing success he eventually opened more boutiques in Palm Desert, Phoenix, Houston, Beverly Hills and now New York City. Max Nugus Designs are timeless his collection is not about the latest trend or fad. These are real clothes that make every woman that wears them feel elegant and beautiful.
In my interview with Mr. Goodman I asked, “What famous celebrities wear Max Nugus?” Glen Close for the Oscars two years ago (a black beaded tuxedo pantsuit and coat) and he recently dressed Kim Bassinger for her birthday.
Max Nugus Haute Couture is for that special woman who needs the perfect ensemble that creates a one of a kind statement. His collection is bridal, tailored day suits, cocktail couture, red carpet evening gowns, accessories, shoes, jewelry handbags and even menswear. His evening gown collection ranges in price from $3000 to $12,000 depending on how elaborate the gown is.
