As is standard in the industry, I am often privy to free or discounted services to help me research or learn about a new product or destination. Please know, my reviews, comments and recommendations are not influenced by this practice–at all. My words are mine and as a full-time freelance writer, all I have is my reputation.
My policy in a nutshell: If it’s not something I’d buy/book for myself for full price or if it’s not something I’d recommend to my sister or my mom and dad, my father-in-law–I won’t be mentioning it. Period.
I get the heads up on a lot of cool things, but not all are article-worthy and I always make that perfectly clear when I get something to try for free or at a discount. If I don’t like something, I probably won’t mention it at all (I prefer to use my writer-powers for good–not evil), but again–anything I recommend I truly believe in. I won’t trick you into buying a bad tasting cereal just because I received a free bag of granola. No way–there’s too much at stake, and quite frankly, my integrity is worth way more than a free tube of lipstick. If it’s not fabulous–my lips are sealed.
Also note, your mileage may vary, but if I’m writing about it here, it’s something I’m confident is worthy of your hard earned money.
