College Moves Up Two Spots Over 2015-2016 Ranking
(Long Island, NY) The just-released 2016-2017 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges survey ranks Farmingdale State College as one of the best regional colleges in the north. Among all public colleges in the north region, Farmingdale placed 9th– two spots higher than it placed in last year’s rankings.
In addition, when compared to both public and private colleges in the north, the college placed in the Top Twenty (17). Farmingdale – SUNY’s largest college of technology – also ranked in the Diversity Index and International Student Population categories.
Farmingdale has enrolled more than 9,000 students for the 2016-17 academic year, giving it the second largest undergraduate population among four-year institutions on Long Island. Growth is strongest among part-time, transfer and returning students.
Farmingdale offers 30 baccalaureate degrees and eight associate degrees. A new Bachelor of Technology in Interaction Design, offered by the Department of Visual Communications, will be introduced next fall, and the college will offer its first master’s degree –Technology Management – in fall 2017. The master’s will be housed in the School of Engineering Technology.
“Farmingdale’s continuing upward trajectory among these surveys is no surprise to the Farmingdale community,” said Farmingdale President John S. Nader. “We’re doing a great job providing an education that results in employment. More than 90 percent of our 2014-15 graduates found work within six months of graduation. These are outcomes any institution would be proud of.”
