(Long Island, NY) Film Historian LI’er Glenn Andreiev looks at Alfred Hitchcock’s early works that marked him as a master filmmaker long before directing in Hollywood. Clips from his famous British films like The 39 Steps (1935) to lesser screened gems like Blackmail (1929) and Secret Agent (1936) will show the beloved Hitchcock style begin with a bang. Before Alfred Hitchcock arrived in Hollywood in 1939, he was already regarded as England’s top film director. Hitchcock’s early British thrillers proved he was a successful experimental movie-maker, keeping audiences riveted with his highly visual tales of suspense and macabre humor.

Glenn Andreiev is a long time Long Island filmmaker and film historian. His writings on film history can be found in The Village Connection, and Films In Review. He has lectured on film history at the Cinema Arts Centre and at The School Of Visual Arts, where he holds a BFA degree in film. His work as a film-maker has appeared on CNN, TruTV, Newsday, and The View. Currently, he is working on a film entitled Cat’s View.
