Major Mortgage Servicers, Non-Profit Counselors, Insurance Companies and Others to Offer Face-to-Face Assistance to Struggling Homeowners in New York
(Westbury, N.Y.) – The HOPE NOW Alliance and several local partners are bringing the nation’s largest mortgage servicers, along with several non-profit housing counseling organizations, insurance companies and others to Long Island to work face to face with homeowners affected by Super Storm Sandy.
The event is co-sponsored by New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman, NeighborWorks® America, Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Long Island Housing Partnership and CDC Long Island.
This free event will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Joseph M. Barry Career and Technical Education Center, 1196 Prospect Avenue, Westbury, NY 11590 (map).
Doors open at 10:00am and the event will run until 7:00pm. Homeowners will be seen on a first come, first-served basis and are encouraged to bring all mortgage documents, income documents and insurance documents . Many of the largest mortgage companies are scheduled to be in attendance including: Bank of America, Chase, Citi Mortgage, GMAC Mortgage, Homeward Residential (formerly American Home Mortgage Servicing, Inc.), HSBC, Nationstar, Ocwen, OneWest, PNC, Select Portfolio Servicing, Seterus, SunTrust, US Bank and Wells Fargo.
Local HUD-approved non-profit housing counseling agencies include:American Debt Resources, Community Development Corp of Long Island, Long Island Housing Partnership, Long Island Housing Services and the Nassau County Office of Housing and Community Development.
Assurant, USAA, New York Property Insurance Underwriting Association, Travelers, Allstate, Hartford, Nationwide, New York Central Mutual and Liberty Mutual insurance companies are scheduled to attend to assist policyholders with claims and other related questions. In addition, the New York Department of Financial Services will be available to answer consumers’ questions related to banking and insurance issues.
Other participants include FEMA, United Way, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Making Home Affordable.

We realize the challenges facing families affected by Super Storm Sandy and we are pleased to be able to offer this free event as a one-stop shop of valuable resources.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet face to face with mortgage companies, counselors, insurance industry representatives and local agencies in a safe environment.
