Feb. 25 Reading Is First Event in Spring Visiting Writers Program
(Long Island, NY) Poet Joshua Robbins will read from his collected works at Farmingdale State College on Thursday, February 25. The reading – the first event in the spring Visiting Writers Program – will be held in the Great Room in Ward Hall at 11 a.m. The public is invited and the event is free.
Robbins is the author of Praise Nothing, a highly-regarded debut collection published in 2013(University of Arkansas Press). His awards include the James Wright Poetry Award; the New South prize; selection for the Best New Poets anthology; and a Walter E. Dakin Fellowship in poetry from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference. He was runner-up for the Visiting Writers Program’s annual Paumanok Poetry Award in 2014.

He is Assistant Professor of English and Creative Writing at the University of the Incarnate Word. He lives in San Antonio.
Farmingdale’s Visiting Writers Program has featured readings by more than 150 American and international authors. The program highlights the importance of literature to education and culture. Its annual Paumanok Poetry Award is an international award judged by faculty in Farmingdale’s English/Humanities department.
