(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a bicyclist in North Lindenhurst on Friday, January 8.
Richard Roth was crossing Route 109 on his bicycle when a U.S. Postal Service truck traveling southbound on Straight Path attempted to make a left turn onto Route 109 and stuck the bicyclist at 6 a.m.

Roth, 60, of West Babylon, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip in serious condition. The driver of the postal truck, Thomas Borrelli, 56, of Ridge, was not injured.
Motor Carrier Safety Section conducted a safety check on the postal truck. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
