LONG ISLAND, NY – Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) is pleased the Public Service Commission (PSC) will finally be taking New York American Water (NYAW) to court over the company’s rate rigging issues, which were discovered several months ago after an extensive investigation was launched. The PSC released a report in late June revealing that NYAW had made inaccurate filings with the New York Office of Real Property Tax Services in addition to withholding information from the PSC during rate proceedings.
The behavior of New York American Water is inexcusable,” said Ra. “I am thrilled the company is finally being taken to court by the PSC and hope justice will be served for the hundreds of consumers it has been charging exorbitant prices. I will continue to stand firm behind these customers who have not been given a fair shake by NYAW.”
Assemblyman Ra represents the 19th Assembly District.
