Senator Stewart-Cousins, Senator O’Brien and the faith leaders in attendance released the following statements:
NYS Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins:
“Faith leaders are often the first and last line of defense for those who want to succeed but are struggling to find a job, gain access to quality health care, or get their kids the education they deserve. That is why it is so inspiring to stand with members of the clergy in support of Ted O’Brien. Ted is a dedicated public servant who shares the values of his constituents and is a leader in the fight to build a better future for Rochester residents and all New Yorkers.”
State Senator Ted O’Brien:
“I am proud to have the support of pastors and leaders who have welcomed me into their places of worship, and encouraged me to embrace their many congregants. The faith community has been a tremendous partner in building new opportunities for Rochester residents. I look forward to continuing to work with members of the clergy and other leaders to create new jobs, improve our schools, and make our communities safer.”
Rev. Ernest Walker, Jr., Full Gospel Tabernacle Church:
“A vote for our residing Senator, Ted O’Brien, is a total vote of confidence, knowing that our voice as city residents and dwellers will be properly and justly represented before our State Senate. Senator O’Brien is and has been an active advocate for all in the 55th District and particularly the City of Rochester. When reelected he will continue to pursue the issues that are relevant to us all such as community safety and well-being, proper education for our children, and economic development. Please come out on Election Day and make your vote count.”
Bishop Reginald McGill, New Life Fellowship Ministries:
“Senator O’Brien shows his commitment to the community he serves by his constant presence and voice on issues that are important: employment, improving public schools, youth issues, gang violence and insuring that Rochester receives its fair share of state funding. I am pleased to offer him my support.”
Bishop Ronald J. Hoston, Greater Bethesda Church of God in Christ:
“Ted O’Brien’s commitment to giving all Rochester residents a shot at success is evident through his actions. He has stood side by side with our congregations and put in the effort to truly understand our needs and concerns. As our Senator, we know we can count on him to fight for higher wages, better schools, and safer streets for Rochester residents because we’ve seen him do it. Ted O’Brien is the only candidate in this race who has the compassion, ability, and vision to get Rochester working again.”
Rev. Roger Breedlove, In Christ New Hope Ministry:
“Ted O’Brien has been working tirelessly to improve the lives of residents within the 55th Senate District. That said, I am looking forward to seeing Senator O’Brien serve our community for another two years, to continue fighting for the real change that Rochester deserves.”
