Uniondale is a hamlet and census-designated place located in Nassau County in the Town of Hempstead, Long Island, New York.
As of 2010 census, there were 24,759 people, 6,153 households, and 4,998 families residing in CDP. The median income for a household in Uniondale is $75,098 and the median income for a family was $84,589. Males had a median income of $42,668 and only $38,609 for females. It is a diverse hamlet and neighbors the diverse towns like Hempstead, Roosevelt, Freeport, Garden City, and East Meadow. The latitude of Uniondale is 40.700N. The longitude is -73.593W. It is in the Eastern Standard time zone. Elevation is 52 feet.
The hamlet grew after the opening of Mitchell Field, a site now occupied by Hofstra University and Nassau Community College. The former and merged names include Turtle Hook because of the turtles that crawled out of nearby ponds to sun themselves on a bend or hook between the plains and Roosevelt. Uniondale is the home of the New York Islanders of NHL and the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League that both play at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball is also looking into having a team in Uniondale. Aside from hosting the game, the coliseum also hosts many concerts and other big events, the color scheme makes the place look darker than it is, seating is cramped and not the most comfortable, although many of Long Island’s largest events take place at Nassau Coliseum.

The Bogart’s Bar and Grill is recently renovated with a bright neon lit bar, new sound and lighting systems and considered as a hot spot for young individuals.
The Long Island Marriott Hotel and Conference Center is located at the intersection of the Hempstead Turnpike, Northern State Parkway and Meadowbrook Parkway. Nassau Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum is adjacent to the hotel with Hofstra University is one mile west in Hempstead. Train service to New York City is available from the Westbury station five minutes from the hotel. Nassau County Department for Senior Citizens Affairs and its help line is also based in Uniondale.
